INDONESIAN NIGHT 2012 “FRIENDSHIP IN HARMONY”
Indonesian Canadian Congress (ICC) is conducting the second year of successful evening cultural performance in Ottawa. The event’s theme “Friendship in Harmony” highlights diamond anniversary of friendship between Indonesia and Canada (1952-2012). Canada has been a great supporter of Indonesia since the initial stage of independence and through the development in the country. In 1952 the two countries signed diplomatic agreement and began diplomatic missions in each other capital. During 60 years of friendship, the two countries succeeded in producing a variety of cooperation including in domestic development, bilateral economic and trade relations, and human rights. The event is equally in support of Asian Heritage Month Celebration for 2012. Through its vision to be the most sought after organization for Indonesian cultural heritage in Canada, ICC proudly captures this moment to promote the culture of Indonesia to communities in Canada.

This annual event is dedicated to attract spectators to visit Ottawa and to experience Indonesian dances, ethnic costume defile, songs and with the beat of traditional “gamelan” instrument and tambourines. Audiences are welcome to participate in the interactive dances and songs. All performances are proudly presented by devoted talents of Indonesian origins and Canadian friends. In addition, the famous exotic
Indonesian foods just add color to the evening adventure to the archipelago.

Around 500 spectators are expected to attend the event consist of Ambassadors of Republic of Indonesia, ambassadors and representatives of other countries, administrative dignitaries of Ottawa and Ontario,
Asian Heritage Month Society, friends from businesses, other community organizations and Indonesian families.
